PRISM investigators present for this investigation included David Rodriguez, Dan Christianson, Karen C., Ralph DeStefano, Anney Horn, Kevin Lunt, Jada M., Laura M., Carl Norgard, and Beth R..

During part of the investigation, the PRISM team was joined by the KPTM Fox news crew. Evidence of the paranormal include the closet door in the children's bedroom opening and closing twice on its and a couple of EVPs that were recorded.

Video Evidence:

Video of closet door:

The closet door in the master bedroom was the cause of a great deal of fascination during our previous investigation of The Villisca Axe Murder House.

We wanted to see if the closet door, located on the second floor children's bedroom, would open and close for us, on command, this time around. This same thing happened to us again twice during this overnight investigation. It happened to us at 1:34 AM and again at 2:03 AM. PRISM investigator's Beth R., Anney H., and Jada M. were in the room when the first event happened, and PRISM investigator Ralph D. joined them during the second event.

In the first event, Beth can be seen in the video, sitting on the bed, waiting for the door to close, while Anney and Jada were sitting on a different bed. By the second event, Ralph and Kevin had entered the room as well.

The home has no electricity, and although two window A/C units were recently installed, which are powered via a long extension cable brought over from the adjacent barn, we unplugged them for this investigation. All the windows upstairs were closed, and there was no apparent air drafts noticed by the investigators.

There is a some slight static in the video. This was most likely a product of the X-Class flare which was occurring at the time, which seemed to have interfered with our wireless video receiver.

Note: Not everyone hears the same things being said while listening to an EVP. Let your own ears be the judge!

VIDEO: EVPs from investigation

This is a short video featuring an examination of the EVPs that were recorded during our investigation of the Villisca Axe Murder House. Children can be heard talking in the upstairs bedroom in these audio clips. There were no children present in the home that night.

(Video length = approx. 2 minutes)

* This video contains EVP's which can be found further down this page as separate audio files.

EVP
:
CLASS B

This audio clip was recorded on videotape, in the doorway to the second-floor attic, right outside of the children's bedroom, at 1:41 am on 9/10/05.

Immediatley after PRISM investigator Anney H. asks, "Hey sweety, can you close the door?" a child's voice can be heard saying what sounds like, " Do it again. Lena, you do it." The clicking sound heard in the middle of the EVP was caused by someone moving something around in the children's bedroom.

Click on the speaker below to listen to the audio clip:

Original audio clip + EVP looped

This EVP was recorded by PRISM investigator Anney H. on a video camera on Sep. 10, 2005. After the original audio clip is heard, the EVP portion was looped 5 times. Noise reduction was added to this loop and it was also slowed down by 25% using Adobe Audition software.

EVP
:
CLASS B

This audio clip was recorded outside of the house, by the adjacent barn, at 7:45 pm on 9/9/05.

A strange voice is heard on this audio clip. The voice was not heard by PRISM investigator Ralph D. while conducting the recording.

Original audio clip + EVP looped

This EVP was recorded by PRISM investigator Ralph D. on an RCA RP5008 digital audio recorder on Sep. 9, 2005. After the original audio clip is heard, the EVP portion was looped 5 times. Noise reduction was added to this loop and it was also slowed down by 25% using Adobe Audition software.

Villisca, Iowa - Villisca Cemetery

Before going to the house, Darwin Linn, the present owner of the Villisca Axe Murder House, leads us on a re-visit to the Villisca Cemetery. In this photo, Darwin is explaining some history to the team while standing in front of the Moore grave site.

Villisca Axe Murder House - Outside

Two air conditioning window units have been installed in both the Blue Room on the first floor of the house and in the parent's bedroom located on the second floor of the house. Since there is presently no electricity in the house, the power is fed in from the adjacent barn via a long extension cord.

Even though it was hot both inside and outside of the house, we decided to turn off and unplug both A/C units for the duration of our investigation. We did not want any air drafts interfering with the further investigation of the closet door located in the children's bedroom on the second floor of the house.

Villisca Axe Murder House - Parents' Bedroom

A very interesting light anomaly photographed around PRISM investigator Karen C., in the parents' room on the second floor of the home. It was in this room that Joe and Sarah Moore were found murdered.

Villisca Axe Murder House - Children's Bedroom

A mysterious black shadow appears around PRISM investigator Carl N., in this photograph taken in the children's bedroom on the second floor of the house. This is the room where all four Moore children were found murdered.

Note: The only light source in the room was an oil lamp which was located behind Carl in the corner of the room, so the area behind Carl should have been well lit in this photo, even though a flash was used.

An unexplainable brown shadow appears in this photograph taken in the second floor attic of the home.

Villisca Axe Murder House - Parlor

This worm-shaped light anomaly, which is also known as a super-charged orb, was photographed in the parlor (living room) of the home.

Villisca Axe Murder House - Parlor

A rather interesting light anomaly is produced by the flame inside the oil lamp on top of the piano in the parlor. In actuality, the flame inside of the oil lamp was less than one inch in length.
In this photo, the flame appears to shoot out of the glass that is covering the lamp.

Villisca Axe Murder House - Blue Room

PRISM sensitive Karen C. conducts a lone vigil in the Blue Room. Karen spent a couple of hours in the room and while there, she claims to have come in contact with the spirit of Lena Stillinger, the older of the two Stillinger girls who were murdered and found in this room.

In the room, several toys can be seen. These toys are left by guests to the home. One of our audio recorders and a TES-1394 EMF meter (propped up on the bed) can also be seen in the room.

Villisca Axe Murder House - Children's Bedroom

Another light anomaly was captured in the children's bedroom, this time on the closet door.

Note: The photo on the right is a close-up of the light anomaly in the original photo on the left. The photo on the right has also been brightness and contrast enhanced to better show the light anomaly.
